Shiny pearls give the card a little bit of a wedding chic.
However, I wouldn’t be disappointed receiving this card for my birthday.

Step-by-Step Tutorial on How To Make a DIY Birthday Cake Card
By the end of this post, you will have a beautiful DIY birthday cake card. I promise!
This tutorial is straightforward.
To make the greeting card right, you must measure the layers of the cake.
The cake must appear proportionate.
It will take you around 15 minutes to make this DIY birthday cake card. So let’s go!
Shortcut preparation:
- Crochet lace:
- 1.5-inch (4 cm) wide – 4-inch (10 cm) piece
- 0.78-inch (2 cm) wide- 3-inch (7.6 cm) piece, and 2.2-inch (5.5 cm) piece.
- Paper straw: 1-inch (2.5 cm) piece
- 6 pearl stickers
1. Prepare The Crochet Lace

For my greeting card 6×6 inch (15.2 x 15.2 cm), I cut a 1.5-inch (4 cm) piece of 4-inch (10 cm) wide crochet lace, a 3-inch (7.6 cm) piece of 0.78-inch (2 cm) wide crochet lace, and a 2.2-inch (5.5 cm) piece of 0.78-inch (2 cm) wide crochet lace.
If you’re using a different size of a greeting card, you might adjust the length of your crochet lace.
2. Glue The Lace To The Card

I used UHU glue to stick my crochet lace onto the card.
I started with the bottom part, leaving 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) of space from the bottom edge.
Then, I took the 3-inch middle part and glued it above the first one.
Lastly, I took the 2.2-inch part and again glued it above the second one, creating a layered effect.
3. Cut The Gold Straw

Cut a 1-inch piece of golden straw. If you have a silver straw or even a white straw, it will work as well.
Then, stick it on top of a cake. I used double tape to do that, because my straw has a metallic feeling. I wanted it to be secured.
With your straw, regular glue or PVA glue might work as well as a double tape.
4. Add Details – Pearl Stickers

To finish our DIY birthday cake card, we need to add a bit of dimension.
I used 6 pearl stickers, 1 on the top layer of the cake, 2 on the middle layer of the cake, and 3 on the bottom layer of the cake.
You can experiment and place your stickers differently. Be creative! 🙂
Your card is now ready. Give it for a birthday or a wedding. It’s simple, yet elegant.
