Step-by-Step Tutorial on How To Make a DIY Boho Handmade Birthday Card
Don’t be discouraged when something doesn’t stick to your card.
It takes some time for the glue to dry out. So just be patient.
It will take approximately 20 minutes to make it.
Shortcut Preparation:
- Crochet lace: 4 x 6in (15.25 cm) long pieces
- Craft ribbon: 2 x 6in (15.25 cm) long pieces and 1 x 12in (30cm) long piece (for the bow)
Let’s get started.
1. Cut the Crochet Lace
Cut 4 pieces of crochet lace, each one should be 6 inches (15.25 cm) long.
My crochet lace is 1.5 inches (4 cm) wide. Therefore, for the 6×6-inch square card, I require 4 pieces of lace.
If your crochet lace has a shorter width, you may need 5 pieces of it.
Please ensure that you adjust it to your card.

2. Glue The Lace Onto The Card
NOTE: Ensure your card is positioned correctly; it should open to the left.
Take one piece of lace at a time and glue it to the card next to the other.
I did mine in a vertical position, but you can do it horizontally if you want.
Turned out that UHU glue was perfect for sticking my lace onto the paper card.

3. Cut craft ribbon
Cut 2 pieces of craft ribbon, same as crochet lace, 6 inches (15.25 cm) long.

4. Glue the craft ribbon onto the card
Use fabric glue to attach the craft ribbon to the crochet lace.
I found out that UHU glue was perfect for sticking my crochet lace to the paper, but it wasn’t good for sticking 2 fabrics together.
As you can see in the second picture. I glued my craft ribbon slightly to the top left.
You can stick yours to the center of the card, so it’s symmetrical. I think it looks good either way.

5. Make a little bow from craft ribbon
Cut a 12-inch (30 cm) long piece of craft ribbon.
Then make a small bow out of that piece of ribbon.

If you’re not sure how to do it, don’t worry! Here’s a tutorial, or click here to watch it on YouTube.
6. Stick the bow to the crochet card
Take your small bow and, using the fabric glue again, attach it in the place where the craft ribbons are crossing.
Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the glue to dry out. You must be sure your craft bow is securely in place and won’t fall off.

There you have it! Your DIY boho handmade birthday card is now ready to find a new home!
