5 DIY Personalized Christmas Ornaments With Names
When I was looking for inspiration for this project, I came across the picture of beaded Christmas ornaments with letters on Pinterest.
In this case, a creator used words such as Joy, Peace, and Merry for these ornaments.
However, I immediately thought of using letters for names or family names instead.
I’ve shared an idea for beaded Christmas wreaths and beaded stars in the article Christmas Ornaments To Copy And Sell.
Please, check it out if you’re interested!
I came up with 5 ideas on how to use beads to create personalized Christmas ornaments in different, unique shapes.
I hope you will be inspired to try making them.
1. Round Beaded Ornament With a Name And a Bow

This is the most popular DIY personalized Christmas ornament with a name.
It is also one of the easiest beaded Christmas ornaments to make.
Below, I leave a simple instruction for you to follow.
The ornament in the picture is 3 inches in diameter.
How To Make It?
- Cut a 9-inch piece of wired jute.
- Slip wooden beads with letters first and place them in the middle.
- Then add round and square beads. For my ornament with 4 letters, I used 8 round beads and 6 square ones. The number of round and square beads depends on the length of the name in the middle. So, adjust accordingly.
- Using the pliers, twist the ends of the wired jute together.
- Cut 10 inches of jute twine, do a knot in the place where you twisted the wired jute, and make another loop to create a 3-inch-long hanging loop.
- Create a small bow from Christmas ribbon and attach it to the ornament using all-purpose glue or PVA glue that you have at home.
If you’re not sure how to make a bow, check out the YouTube video:
2. Christmas Tree Beaded Ornament With A Name

This simple design is, at the same time, very effective.
It is suitable for longer names and is easy to make.
The size of the Christmas tree ornament in the picture is 6 x 3.5 inches (including 1.5 inches of jute twine for the tree stump)
Let’s dive into a tutorial.
How To Make It?
- Cut a 10-inch piece of wired jute and bend it in half.
- String 4 round wooden beads and 4 cube wooden beads alternately on each side. These are our tree sides.
- Cut a 4-inch piece of wired jute and string beads with letters. If the name you’re going for is short, add plain round beads at the ends.
- Place it at the bottom and twist it together with the side parts. Cut the excess of the wired jute.
- Cut 2 2.5-inch pieces of jute twine and knot them in the middle of a name, creating a stump. Trim it to the desired length. For me, it was 1.5 inches long.
- Cut an 8-inch piece of jute twine and add a hanging loop at the top.
- At the end, make a small bow from Christmas ribbon and glue it to the top part of a Christmas tree ornament.
3. Christmas Candy Cane Beaded Ornament With A Name

The candy cane is a typical Christmas theme to consider.
However, adding beads with letters and creating a personalized Christmas ornament takes it to the next level!
How To Make It?
- Cut an 8-inch piece of wired raffia ribbon and twist it at one end to prevent the beads from falling off.
- Slip 6 round beads in 2 different sizes, then start adding one letter and one bead alternately, or all the beads with letters if the name is longer. My candy cane has a total of 17 beads.
- Twist the other end using the pliers and cut the excess of the wired raffia ribbon.
- Bend it slightly at the top (after the 4th bead) to give it a candy cane shape.
- To make it more interesting, instead of adding jute twine for a hanging loop, cut a 10-inch log piece of thin jute ribbon and make one knot after the 4th bead and one at the end. Cut the excess. My Hanging loop is 3 inches long.
4. Christmas Beaded Ornament With A Name And A Tassel

This personalized Christmas ornament would look amazing as a keychain, too.
As you can see, instead of using beads with letters, I used larger round wooden beads and wrote the letters myself in this case.
It is another way to create DIY personalized Christmas ornaments with names without having to buy beads with letters.
How To Make It?
- Cut a 9-inch piece of wired raffia ribbon and make a small loop at the top. This is where you will add a hanging loop later.
- String 2 round, smaller beads and then bigger ones for the letter, and finish off with 2 smaller round beads again. If the name you’re adding is longer, cut a longer piece of a wired raffia ribbon in the first place.
- Make a little loop at the other end and twist it slightly.
- Make a tassel from jute twine. If you’re unsure about how to make a tassel, here’s a helpful YouTube tutorial. Click here. My tassel is 3 inches long.
- Attach the tassel to the small loop at the end of an ornament.
- Add a hanging loop and make a little bow at the top for a final touch.

5. 3D Christmas Bauble Beaded Ornament With A Name And A Bow

This 3D design of a Christmas bauble ornament is definitely the most complicated.
But don’t worry, I will show you the easy way to make it.
Instead of a name, I added a family name this time.
As this ornament is larger than the others, it can serve as a Christmas gift for the whole family.
How To Make It?
- Cut 2 12-inch pieces of wired jute twine, bend them in the middle, and twist one wire around the other to keep them secure. Because you used one wire to twist on the other, the leftover wire for beading will be shorter, but it’s okay.
- Now, you have 4 wires ready for beading. On 2 longer wires, add 10 beads on each, and on 2 shorter ones, add 9 beads each. Choose between the round and the cube ones.
- Twist the two opposite wires together at the top to secure them, and then twist the 2 opposite wire jute pieces together at the top above it.
- Take a 9-inch piece of jute twine and tie the twisted wires together to form a hanging loop.
- Cut a 6-inch piece of wired raffia ribbon and string family name letters.
- Attach the name by twisting the end of the wired raffia ribbon in the middle of an ornament on both sides. Cut the excess wire raffia ribbon on both ends.
- Decorate with a wider Christmas ribbon by making a bow. Use glue to secure it.
