DIY Rustic Garland With Beads Inspiration
One day, I was searching for cozy, country-style decor, and I came across a bead garland with twine tassels on Amazon.
It’s budget-friendly farmhouse decor, but it looks fantastic when displayed on a table with other rustic decor elements or hung from a bookshelf.

Moreover, I had wooden beads and jute twine at home, which allowed me to create my own version of the tassel and bead garland idea.

DIY Wood Bead Garland with Tassels Tutorial
Before we dive into a tutorial, here’s a list of necessary craft supplies for this project.
*NOTE: Wooden beads don’t need to have large holes. It happened that I had them at home, so I used them to make a bead garland. They are easier to thread on jute twine, though.

The DIY wood bead garland with tassels I made is 40 inches long (101 cm) – 2 x 4-inch (10 cm) tassels and a 32-inch (81 cm) beaded part.
If you want your handmade rustic garland to be longer, adjust the length of the jute twine and the number of wooden beads you need.
For the same 40-inch-long DIY garland as mine, you’ll need:
- 50 wooden beads + 2 small wooden beads
- 2x 47-inch (120 cm) pieces of jute twine and 20 x 10-inch (25 cm) pieces, 2 x 15-inch (38 cm) pieces

1. Add Wooden Beads To Jute Twine

Tie 2 long pieces of jute twine together, leaving 6 inches (15 cm) from the end.
Next, add a small wooden bead first to support the end of the garland.
Then add all 50 wooden beads to the jute twine.
Lastly, add one more small bead at the end and tie a knot to hold everything in place.
TIP: Don’t tie the beads too tightly; leave a little bit of space for the beads to move easily.
2. Make Tassels At The Ends

Now it’s time to make 2 tassels.
If you’ve never made one, here’s a helpful tutorial on how to make a tassel DIY.
I recommend watching it!
Take 10 pieces of jute twine and put them between the 2 pieces of jute twine that we left at the end of our garland.
Ensure they are positioned in the middle. Tie them nice and tight. Cut the excess jute twine or leave it.
Take a 15-inch piece of jute twine and wrap it around as you would typically do when making tassels.
Refer to the YouTube video above for reference.
Finally, trim the tassels. I trimmed mine, so each is 4 inches long.
You’re DIY wooden bead garland with tassels is now finished and ready to be gifted as a farmhouse decor gift.

Conclusion
I hope this post inspires you to create this easy, rustic tassel garland project.
The best part is, you can make it longer if you want or shorter.
It depends on your preference.
Moreover, you could make the tassels bigger by adding a couple of pieces of jute twine.
For example, instead of 10, use 15 10-inch pieces.
This farmhouse craft is incredibly easy to work with, so I encourage you to give it a try!
