Step-by-Step Tutorial on How To Make an Aesthetic Ribbon Birthday Card
This handmade ribbon birthday card is very easy to do.
The process of gluing pieces of crochet lace and kraft ribbon together is very straightforward.
However, the process of drying out the glue might be time-consuming.
We want the pieces to stay together on the card.
Therefore, it’s essential to secure them in a manner that prevents them from falling off later.
Shortcut Preparation:
- Crochet lace: 2 x 6in (15.25 cm) long pieces
- Craft ribbon: 2 x 6in (15.25 cm) long pieces and 2 x 8in (20.30cm) long pieces (for the bow)
1. Cut the Crochet Lace And Craft Ribbon

Cut 2 6-inch-long pieces of crochet lace and 2 6-inch-long pieces of craft ribbon.
Easy. 😉
2. Time To Glue It Altogether

To glue my crochet lace onto the greeting card, I use UHU glue. It works for me.
However, you can use PVA glue or your favourite glue to do that.
I applied glue, and then I pressed the lace onto the card vertically in the middle.
We are looking for a present-style design, where 2 laces cross in the middle of a card.
Next, I used something heavy (like a heavier book) to stick it on and let it dry properly.
At the end, cut off the recess crochet lace or kraft ribbon at the end (what is sticking out).

What is essential in this kind of birthday card ideas is the order in which the pieces are assembled.
As you can see in the picture, I started with vertical lace, and on top of that, I glued kraft ribbon.
Next, I attached the crochet lace horizontally, and on top of that, I placed the kraft ribbon.
The order goes like that:
- Vertical crochet lace
- Vertical kraft ribbon
- Horizontal crochet lace
- Horizontal kraft ribbon
TIP: To attach kraft ribbon to crochet lace, I used fabric glue. And at the end of each part, I attached binder clips and let it all dry.
3. Cut Kraft Ribbon And Attach It.

Cut 2 8-inch log pieces of kraft ribbon.
We aren’t making a regular bow here.
To make it even easier, we will use 2 pieces of ribbon and glue them together, so they appear to be one.
As you can see in the picture, I create a small loop on the right side and glue it in the middle, where our laces cross.
Let it dry completely before attaching the other piece of ribbon.
Repeat on the other side and let it dry again.
As I mentioned at the beginning of this easy tutorial, drying time is long, but it is worth it.
And there you have it.
Your aesthetic ribbon birthday card is now ready to be gifted to someone special to you.
